Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is Service of Process?
The term "process" denotes a summons or order made by a court, including a document issued or made by a court for service on parties (such as a defendant to claim). “Service” of process is the formal delivery of such documents, so as to enable that person to respond to the proceedings before the court.
-
How is Process served?
A set of court documents is delivered to the person named on said documents, or to their appointed Process Agent in the jurisdiction of the court.
-
What is a Process Agent and why do I need one?
A Process Agent is a representative upon whom court papers may be served. There are special rules for serving process outside of England and Wales and it is often simpler to appoint a Process Agent within the jurisdiction.
-
What services do you provide as Process Agent?
The Process Agent provides a registered address within the United Kingdom through which legal documents issued by the courts can be served on involved parties based overseas. It is our role as Process Agent to sign for any documents received in relation to an appointment and forward them for delivery to the addressees stipulated in the Service of Process appointment letter.
